As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we take a moment to recognise the incredible journey of our very own Connor Ridsdale, as he enters his 8th year with MPCC.
Connor joined MPCC as a warehouse apprentice in 2017, quickly demonstrating his dedication and eagerness to learn. After completing his apprenticeship in 2018, he secured a full-time role as warehouse assistant, becoming a key part of daily operations.
Connor’s problem-solving abilities and leadership potential stood out early, earning him greater responsibilities as the company grew. A promotion to Warehouse Supervisor, saw him not only managing an expanding team, but also playing a vital role in multiple warehouses moves, demonstrating his ability to lead, adapt, and his incredible attention to detail.
In 2023, Connor was offered the opportunity to help establish MPCC’s UAE branch, an important step in the company’s strategic expansion plans. Relocating permanently to Fujairah in January 2024, he worked closely with our Head of Global Warehousing, Matthew Holgate, to set up the new facility in the Fujairah Free Zone. Later in the year, he supervised the move to a larger premises, ensuring operations continued without disruption.
Reflecting on Connors journey, Matthew Holgate shared: “Since Connor began his apprenticeship in 2017, it’s been a pleasure to watch him grow both professionally and personally. He has consistently approached every challenge and task with full dedication, always going above and beyond to excel. I’m excited to continue working alongside him as he helps manage the new warehouse in the UAE. I’m confident he’ll thrive in this role and be a key asset on the ground there.”
For those just starting their careers, Connor offers this advice: “Embrace every opportunity to learn and challenge yourself. Don’t underestimate the power of a positive mindset and strong work ethic. Where you don’t have experience, this is key to opening doors. Sometimes to places you never imagined.”
