Logistics Manager Connie Hartley, of Leeds-based compressor and pump spares manufacturer MPCC has won the ‘Unsung Hero’ category at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Awards for Excellence, held at the Beaumont Estate in Windsor last week. The award aims to shine a light on individuals who make a significant beneficial impact on their customers, colleagues and community as a whole.
Now in its 31st year, the prestigious CILT awards are regarded as the benchmark for excellence, recognising the outstanding achievements made by individuals and organisations from across the profession.
Connie began work at MPCC in 2019 as a Logistics Administrator but was soon promoted to Logistics Manager thanks to her years of previous experience exporting fabrics to more than 35 countries worldwide. She has since been instrumental in opening MPCC’s Middle-East Warehouse, actively navigating the complex legislation associated with importing and exporting from a Special Economic Zone.
Whilst spending several weeks in the UAE, Connie used her free time to champion Women in Logistics, specifically in a country in which it is not a typical profession for a woman to hold. Actively posting on social media, she raised awareness of all-female air freight operations teams who are traditionally hidden away out-of-sight, and often overlooked.
Speaking of this incredible achievement, MPCC’s Managing Director Thomas Bray said “We couldn’t be more thrilled for Connie to receive this accolade. The complexities of logistics within the maritime industry often go unnoticed, and we appreciate the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport for highlighting this unique and demanding part of our business. No one deserves this award more than Connie, she’s an absolutely essential part of the MPCC family”.
The awards were held on Thursday 19th September 2024.
